Murfreesboro, TN (PRWEB) January 28, 2006
Road to the Horse is proud to announce country music stars Kellie Coffey and Trent Willmon will open each day’s competition in song. Coffey will kick off opening ceremonies on Saturday, February 25; Wilmon will sing the National Anthem on Sunday, February 26, 2006 at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
With this year’s competition so close to Nashville’s rich music roots, it was natural to have country singers perform at the show, according to Road to the Horse Producer Tootie Bland. “We’re thrilled to have Trent return for his second year singing at the competition—and to have Kellie with us for the first time,” she said. “It will be fun to have country music and equestrian celebrities on hand to meet our visitors.”
Coffey, originally from Moore, Okla., has a publishing contract with industry giant Warner Chappell; a record deal with BNA Records Nashville; a top 10 single; opened for Superstar Kenny Chesney on his Senorita’s and Margaritas tour; a top 5 album sales debut; a top 15 second single; and 250,000 CDs sold. She also opened for George Strait during his 2004 tour. Find out more about Coffey at http://www.kelliecoffey.com
Willmon’s hit single “Beer Man” is taking country radio by storm. His new single, “On Again Tonight,” is also heading up the charts. This Columbia recording artist Is featured in the February 2006 issue of Brilliant Magazine (http://www.brilliantmagazine.com). Willmon will be right at home with the event’s horses and trainers. An Afton, Texas native, he was raised on a cattle ranch and grew up participating in 4-H and FFA activities. When he received a gift guitar at age 16, Willmon’s music took center stage. He studied animal science, then music at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. Listen to his self-titled debut album online at http://www.trentwillmon.com
The singers will perform at Road to the Horse—the unique colt-starting competition where four well-known clinicians (Craig Cameron, Van Hargis, Martin Black and Stacy Westfall) will train young horses using kind methods in record time. The techniques can be used to work with any breed of horse—the Quarter Horses the trainers will work with, or the Tennessee Walkers and gaited horses common in the venue area. RFD-TV celebrity and two-time Road to the Horse Champion Clinton Anderson will also share his winning colt-starting techniques during demonstrations before each day’s competition.
